RENFREW star David Gray couldn't hide his delight this week after winning a contract with Washington club Kitsap Pumas.
As Gazette Sport revealed earlier this month, the midfielder is jetting out to America in April to complete his dream move after impressing the club in try-outs last month.
The switch is an ambitious move for the 21-year-old because the Pumas are connected to top MLS club Seattle Sounders - which has ex-Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg and former Fulham keeper Kasey Keller in its ranks.
And now Gray hopes the move will be a stepping stone for him into full-time football.
He beamed: "Since I left Dundee United I have wanted another chance at playing full-time football.
"It is a chance to do something significant and I am still young enough to have a chance at this and there is no work commitments holding me back here.
"They do have connections to the Sounders.
"The coach does broadcasting for the radio and the telly and the Sounders pass some of their players down.
"I heard they have signed players recently for the season.
"So I think there is an opportunity to go higher if I have a good couple of seasons."
Gray, who played for Kilmarnock and Dundee United as a youth player, is ecstatic about his move across the Atlantic.
But he paid tribute to Dougie Mitchell's men and said he has been delighted with his five-month spell at Western Park.
He also hopes his old team-mates can continue their rise up the Super League First Division.
He added: "Renfrew have been excellent and very supportive.
"They said going to America wasn't a problem and I could go and give it a try.
"It's good to see them winning against Glenafton and they are doing well.
"It has been a good experience for me and I already knew some of the boys and I knew Jimmy Quigley when I was at Kilbirnie.
"But they are a great bunch of boys and they are all good mates in the dressing room.
"Since I came here Renfrew have been playing well and winning games.
"When I went away I was out injured and they have continued winning, so hopefully it will continue until the end of the season."
