COLIN Clark has revealed that he will be taking control at Western Park alongside Martin Ferry after the departure of ex-boss Dougie Mitchell.

Mitchell, who had been in charge for four years and was also involved in the committee before that has decided to take a break due to work commitments, but Clark is hopeful it is not the last time the Frew fans will see him at Western Park.

The new boss paid tribute to the departing one and insisted Mitchell will be sorely missed at the club.

He told Gazette Sport: "Dougie has decided to leave the club due to work commitments.

"He did a lot of work at the club behind the scenes and he always had the clubs best interests at heart.

"Dougie being Dougie will always still be on the other end of the phone for me.

"I have loved working with him and I would like to thank him for all his help and advice over the years, he was great to work with.

"I even spoke to him yesterday as he was offering to help me out with player regestrations and other paperwork.

"He is always ready to help the club and I am sure he may return in the future when it is right for him."

On the pitch, Renfrew are battling financial constraints to get ready for the new season as Clark looks to add to his side.

However, he has admitted, the only way that can happen is if he sells players first.

He added: "We are working hard to get a few players through the door, and we are close to a couple of deals for Premier League players.

"However, we have had to put Michael Fulton and Brian Gordon on the transfer list and Neil Shearer has left the club.

"We have called up three under-21's, Adam Moore, David Adams and Matthew Stevenson.

"They will get a chance next season, it will be a steep learning curve for them, but they can all add to the squad.

"If we can get the targets we want and keep the majority of the current team, we will be ok.

"I think it will leave us with a team that is capable of challenging at the top, we just need to make sure we have a good start to the season and kick on from there."
