RENFREW had to wait until the 94th minute to secure a point against pace setters Kilsyth Rangers - but boss Colin Clark believes they deserved their 2-2 draw against the league leaders.
Clinton Maxwell netted deep into stoppage time against the Gers to cancel out the visitors' second goal with 15 minutes left.
Richie Chang scored the opening goal for the home side and the Western Park boss believes they were worthy of taking a point from the game.
And he believes they could have taken all three after seeing Kilsyth win what he believed was a soft penalty.
He said: "Before the game I wanted to win but to score late on I was pleased to get a point. We scored in the 94th minute but the added time was due. They wasted a lot of time after they scored with 15 minutes left, which is fair enough. They were complaining about the added on time but if you waste it you have to be prepared to play it.
"It was a sickener for them but it was justified, especially after the penalty decision which was soft in the extreme.
"They are on top in the league and have brought in some good players, they have some quick players up front.
"That's four points out of six and we couldn't afford to lose any ground of them."
Frew look like they have turned their backline into a solid unit and Clark praised his side for their recent performances.
He added: "They have a lot of resilience about them now. They were losing goals at the start of the season but I think we have cut that out.
"The strikers haven't scored in a couple of games so we hope to put two of them together."
Renfrew take on Rutherglen Glencairn at Western Park on Saturday, kick-off 1.45pm.
