RENFREW are in the form of their lives and boss Colin Clark believes their run could go on for weeks to come if they continue their fine performances.

‘Frew have had to dig deep in recent weeks and Saturday’s 2-0 win over Lanark United was no different in what was a tight affair.

However, Clark insisted his side are high in confidence, telling Gazette Sport: “In all honesty we didn’t play particularly well on Saturday and Lanark would have every right to feel hard done by.

“But the boys are high in confidence — and they have every right to be as they have had a great start to the season.

“They know not to get carried away, we are only four games into the season and we will need to be at the top of our game.

“I’ll take the win every week, we played better last season and got beat so I am delighted that we came away from Saturday with all three points.” With a 100 per cent record still intact in the league Clark admitted he has enjoyed long unbeaten spells before in his career — highlighting a mammoth spell only a matter of seasons ago.

He explained: “We actually managed nine wins in a row at Renfrew a few seasons back.

“I think we ended up 11 games unbeaten in that spell so we know that it can be done.

“What you have got to remember at this stage is that we are still a team in transition, and one that has seen a massive turnover in players in only the past year.

“We have started well but we still have a lot to do.” Renfrew now face a tricky tie at home to Ballingry Rovers in the Scottish Cup first round this Saturday at Keanie Park.

The Ayrshire side will provide formidable opposition for Renfrew and Clark insisted he knows fine well how difficult a tie it will be for his inexperienced side.

He added: “They have a number of former professional teams and we know that they will be difficult to beat.

“It could go one or two ways but we have got to be positive in the hope of coming away with a result.

“The draw has been rather unkind to us this season but we will get on with it and see what happens.”
