Duncan has enjoyed a career in the professional ranks, and even featured against Rangers at Ibrox little over a year ago.

Keanie Park boss Colin Smith admitted he was delighted to see the 22-year-old put been to paper and revealed the Burgh saw off competition from East Region giants Sauchie.

He told Gazette Sport: “I’m honestly delighted that Andrew has decided to join Johnstone Burgh, it just shows you the progress we are making as a club both on and off the park.

“The fact that we are able to attract players of Andrew’s quality to the club, players who have played in the professional ranks, played at Ibrox, is testament to everybody at the club.

“It solves the problem we have had, the deal will be mutually beneficial as we get a top quality keeper and Andrew gets the opportunity to put himself back in the shop window.” Burgh’s fourth round Scottish Cup tie away to Lesmahagow was one of numerous fixtures to fall foul to the Winter conditions.

Cup ties take precedent over league fixtures, so the two sides will once again prepare to face one another this weekend.

Smith admitted he hopes the game gets the go-ahead sooner rather than later as Burgh are already playing catch up in the league.

He added: “I’m gutted that the game was called off but we kind of knew that would be the case from early on in the week.

“Historically Lesmahagow’s pitch struggles with the weather so it was always going to be a struggle to get the match on.

“That becomes a worry as we already have five games in hand over some sides.

“That would leave us with a busy schedule come the end of the season, and at that point players’ work commitments and other things can become an issue.

“Lesmahagow get three chances to get the tie on before the venue is switched, so I hope we can get the game on this weekend.”
