Gary Teale will be hoping for a vast improvement from the weekend’s performance at home to Inverness Caldeonian Thistle, which seen them slump to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of John Hughes’ side.

McInnes has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal in all departments with the January addition of Kenny McLean just adding to the already packed midfield ranks.

Going forward a frontline of Niall McGinn, McLean, Johnny Hayes and Adam Rooney will fill the St Mirren backline with trepidation and they will know that they will have to be at their best if they are to come away from Pittodrie with anything at all.

The sides last met last month, with Aberdeen taking all three points in Paisley.

Goals from McGinn and full back Shay Logan proved to be the difference that day despite St Mirren having the better of the opening exchanges.

A 2-2 draw back in August will hand St Mirren a glimmer of hope when they take the trip north, knowing that they are capable of picking up points against the league’s high flyers.

However they will have to do so without the match-leveller Kenny McLean who will know line up in the red of the Dons as opposed to the Buddies’ black and white stripes.

Aberdeen had taken a 2-0 lead through Mark Reynolds and Peter Pawlett, but Callum Ball had brought his side back into the game before McLean levelled proceedings with a penalty with less than five minutes left on the clock.
