Kinney, who departed Glenafton at the end of the season, is set to return to Frew, following a spell away from the club.

The New Western Park side will be plying their trade in the Central District First next season, and Clark admits Kinney’s signature is something of a coup.

Clark said: “Our squad is coming together nicely right now and we are pleased with how things are shaping up.

“We have added David Gordon from Neilston, while Gary McGarroch has came in from Ferguslie Star. Gary has great pedigree having come through at Celtic and was a stand out in the amateurs.

“Alain Kinney will also be joining. The deal isn’t done yet but all the terms have been agreed and Alain will be a Renfrew player next season.

“It is a great statement of intent on our part, he is a proven goalscorer across the leagues and he will be sure to fire in a few next season. He had to leave Glenafton due to his work commitments which would have stopped him from making training so we are willing to work with that.” Renfrew have been back for pre season for over three weeks now and will complete their first pre season match against Irvine Meadow at Loch Inch on Wednesday night.

Clark concedes he doesn’t expect much from the tie and will be viewing it as more of a workout than anything else.

Central District First is what awaits Frew next season and Clark insists it will be one of the toughest divisions in the country.

He added: “The District league is always one of the toughest and this year shouldn’t be any different.

“Neilston and Maryhill will be right up the top of the league, while St Anthony’s almost got relegated last season despite being what I thought a good side.

“It will be down to whoever can do the best over the whole season and Rossvale will also have ambitions of competiting at the top of the league.

“We won’t be setting any specific targets but we would hope to be competitive and there or thereabouts.”
