The company – who have two luxury caravans to rent at the popular Haven resort of Haggerston Castle in Berwick-Upon-Tweed – will become proud away strip sponsors to the club this season.

And McDoc Caravan Hire owners Barry McWilliams and fiancee Jillian Docherty have already ensured it’s a right old family affair as two of Barry’s brothers, Liam and Tony, form the club’s goalkeeping staff.

The couple have been hiring out their Prestige and Herald Gold caravans – both eight berth – for more than a year now and were keen to support a voluntary community venture.

Thorn Athletic was the obvious choice for Barry who was brought up in Johnstone as part of a large football-daft family.

He said: “McDoc Caravan Hire has been building up for a while offering value family holidays to one of the area’s best-known parks.

“We are delighted McDoc can support Thorn Athletic and our name will now been seen wherever the team go on their travels.

“My brothers Tony and Liam have been a huge part of the club for many years and have had great enjoyment with the Thorn. Hopefully the new strips will bring them continued success.” The new Umbro Witton kit will see the Thorn return to the yellow and blue colours of their first ever strip worn nearly 18 years ago – which was sponsored by the Johnstone Gazette & Barrhead News owners Clyde & Forth Press.

Club secretary Mark McGee said: “I went to school along with Barry and I’ve known Liam and Tony for many years now. The McWilliams family have always had a great link with the club and I’m delighted Barry has been able to come on board with McDoc Caravans.

“The two caravans look absolutely great and I’ve heard great feedback about them and the amenities available to keep the family amused at Haggerston Castle.

“It’s also good that we will return to the colours of our very first Gazette-sponsored strip. It will bring back memories of some of our earliest trophy triumphs not long after the team was formed.

“We were grateful for the support of Clyde & Forth Press to help us get off the ground and remain so to this day.” Further information about the sponsorship deal will be available on the club’s Facebook and Twitter pages along with all the latest fixtures, results, pictures and video of the team’s assault on the Caledonian League next season.
