JOHNSTONE Burgh are now without a win in three league games after a defeat to Lesmahagow Juniors at Craighead Park on Saturday.

The afternoon started well for Colin Smith and Davie Brolly’s side as Jonny McStay put Burgh in front.

However, the Gow quickly recovered and were comfortable winners in the end.

The win moves Lesmahagow above Burgh in the Central District First Division table. The Keanie Park side are fifth bottom of the 14-team league, although it is early days with just four games gone.

Burgh will have a weekend without a competitive fixture as the first round of the Scottish Junior Cup taking place, Johnstone Burgh have received a bye.

They will next be in action on Saturday, October 15 when they welcome Royal Albert to Keanie Park in the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup.

Burgh will be heavy favourites to progress at the expense of the Central District Second Division side. Royal Albert have lost three of their four league games so far, conceding four goals twice and shipping six to Glasgow Perthshire in the other.

Meanwhile there was bad news on the signing front for Smith and Brolly as Neilston confirmed the capture of midfielder Allan Orr.

The former Rangers youth player had spells with Gretna and Dumbarton and has been at Maryhill for the last five years. Burgh had hoped to secure his signature after he trained with both clubs for two weeks but he chose to move to Brig O’Lea.
