The Keanie Park side fell 4-1 to already promoted Rossvale on Saturday, leaving Burgh 10th in the table. However with numerous games in hand over a string of promotion chasing rivals, Burgh still have a chance of gaining promotion.

Brolly said: “We can have no complaints about the result on Saturday, we probably deserved what we got in all honesty.

“I know we are sitting near the bottom of the table but we have a number of games to go, however we need to tighten up at the back and get together a run of results if we are to challenge.” Burgh had enjoyed a flying start to the league season but have now suffered four defeats on the spin. Brolly concedes that if their poor form continues then they can wave goodbye to their promotion chances, but hopes they can eclipse their good start with an even better run in.

“We haven’t played to our capabilities,” he said. “We had a great start and me and Colin (Smith) were thinking this is brilliant. But you have to take the good with the bad in management, and right now it’s bad.

“A lot of individual errors have crept into our game and it is costing us. If you can’t defend well at the back and you’re not taking your chances going forward then you are bound to lose games. We need to stop the stupid mistakes.

“We played Lesmahagow in the Scottish Cup, and although we got knocked out, we gave a good account of ourselves. We need to start performing again, there are 10 teams probably thinking they can go up.” Burgh welcome East Kilbride Thistle to Johnstone this week as the fixture list ramps up for the end of the season.

Brolly insists it will be a tough tie and improvement will be needed, adding: “It will be a hard game. Every game now will be hard, we can’t expect any easy matches as only 10 points basically separate everyone.

“We will have to be at our best.”
