DOUGIE Mitchell reckons Renfrew could be just one win away from safety after they notched up their fifth league victory in a row on Saturday.
The Western Park side kept up their sublime form against Kilsyth Rangers to cement their third spot in the table, but the manager knows his side must keep up the momentum.
Top-scorer Matt McLean added another to his season's tally, before Chris Cameron made sure of the points with a late strike.
The hard-fought win takes the Frew 12 points clear of the danger zone, which Mitchell insists is the main focus and is adamant his side shouldn't be thinking about promotion.
He said: "That's three games without conceding which is terrific.
"We aren't playing great stuff at the moment but we are doing enough to win and I think it's all down to hard work.
"But I still think we need at least another win.
"We are sitting third top at the moment which is great, but it only takes one defeat to go into a downward spiral.
"And there are teams with games in hand so we can't talk about promotion or play-offs yet.
"We also have to still play Cumnock twice this season.
"But after coming out of that harsh winter, now is the perfect time to be picking up form."
The Western Park boss admitted it wasn't a vintage performance from his side but was delighted with his players' determination to seal another valuable win.
Mitchell added: "We were tight at the back and now when we need a goal we are scoring, whereas before we were conceding.
"Dean Sexton has hit a rich vein of form for us and that resonates throughout the rest of the team.
"He has made vital saves at important times recently.
"Kilsyth had a new manager in charge and the players wanted to impress so it was a tough game for us.
"It was nail-biting being just a goal up so late on but Chris Cameron got the second to ease things."
Last week Renfrew landed the signature of midfielder Michael Fulton from Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.
Mitchell was delighted to boost his squad and said: "He won't be a direct replacement for David Gray but he has similar craft and style.
"Funds are low at the moment but it was great the committee could come up with that signing at this time of the season."
Renfrew have two vital away games next week as they take on Glenafton Athletic, who they defeated last month, at Loch Park on Saturday (kick-off at 2pm).
And then on Wednesday April 14, the Frew take a trip to Lanarkshire to play East Kilbride Thistle at Show Park (kick-off 6.30pm).
