SKY'S THE LIMIT FOR GOLF DUO
TWO golfers from Old Ranfurly represented Scotland in the Four Nations Challenge.
Andrew Duncan and Cormac Wright secured their place to compete for Scotland in the prestigious tournament and took on club golfers from England, Ireland and Wales.
Players from across the country went through a series of regional qualifiers to reach the competition.
Unfortunately, despite finishing the tournament unbeaten, the Old Ranfurly duo couldn't halt Ireland, who narrowly defeated Wales 4-3 in a dramatic final.
Scotland drew 3-3 with Ireland on the opening day with Cormac and Andrew winning their round.
England and Scotland played out another 3-3 draw on the second day
with Cormac and Andrew's game finishing all square.
Scotland went on to lose in the second hole in a dramatic play-off. Wales and Ireland earned the right to play in the final with the Irish team winning the competition.
Even though Scotland missed the chance to take the trophy north of the border, Duncan hailed playing the competition as the panicle of his golfing life.
And their golfing talents will be show cased on Sky Sports when the tournament highlights are shown on October 18.
He said: "It was fantastic. It was the best time of my life from a golfing point of view.
"It certainly was the pinnacle for me. The three days were down there were fantastic.
"The guys in the Scotland team and the other nations were great. There was a bit of banter and slagging but as soon as the games started, it was very competitive."
Cormac said: "It was a fantastic experience and I said that if we don't make it to next year I will be gutted.
"It was very well organised and the best thing was that all the players wanted to be there and play good golf. I was delighted to have taken part in the it.
"It was down to a table of four and we won all our games to finish top and qualify for the team.
"It was 3-3 with England and we lost on the second play-off hole. I think we played good enough golf."
