CHRIS WARNS HIS OLD SIDE
STRIKER Chris Zok hopes to punish his old club when Renfrew and Glenafton meet at Western Park for the opening league game on Saturday.
Zok was snapped up by Colin Clark from the Glens in the summer and the hitman will now come face-to-face with his old team-mates just over a month after leaving Loch Park.
There will be no sentimentality involved in the league opener for Zok as he is desperate to get off the mark with a goal in the league campaign.
He told Gazette Sport: "I don't feel I want to get revenge on Glenafton but I just want to beat them.
"I want to win every game so if we beat Glenafton then that's great because it's one of my old clubs.
"First and foremost you want to win. That's the most important thing, it doesn't matter if it's a 1-0 win or a 5-0 win.
"Hopefully I get a goal against them as I have a good record of scoring against my old clubs."
Zok's main aspiration is to return to playing in the Super Premier League.
And he's determined to achieve that at Western Park this season.
He added: "What attracted me to joining Renfrew was the management team. They asked me to come in and I was quite happy to come to the club.
"They said if I do well then I will play games. That's what I feel I need to do. If I play then I will play well.
"I've played against Renfrew a few times so I know the club and it's always been a decent club.
"I know a few of the players from previous clubs. I know they are up pushing for promotion.
"I want to be back playing in the Super Premier League and I hope it will be with this squad."
Renfrew's first league game of the season against Glenafton kicks off at 2pm at Western Park.
