SISTER ACT
IT'S another big week for two young Erskine sisters as Rebekka and Sarah Findlay prepare for the Scottish National Junior Badminton championships this weekend.
Rebekka, who has recently turned full time, is the top seed in the girls singles and mixed doubles while she is second seed in the girls doubles under-19 events.
Younger sister Sarah will take part in the under-15 competitions where she is 3/4 seed in the singles, second seed in the mixed doubles and top seed in the girls doubles.
While Rebekka is training full-time with the Scotland squad at the National Badminton Centre at Scotstoun, Sarah's badminton career is also flying as she has been added to the junior national squad with whom she trains five times a week.
Sarah was also part of the squad which travelled to the UK School Games at the beginning of September and earlier this year she was selected for the Scotland squad to compete in the four nations quadrangular tournament in Milton Keynes.
Father Scott feels that the example Rebekka is setting her younger sister can only help Sarah's development.
He said: "Sarah can see that her sister is totally dedicated and because of that things have worked out really well for her."
With both girls desperate to succeed at the tournament which will be played at Motherwell's Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility Rebekka will
no doubt see it as another important step towards her aim of winning the under-19 European championships which will take place next year.
