The club, which has been running at The Lagoon since 2008, has grown massively over the past six years, developing from only a few members to over a dozen competitors who train three times a week.
RTGC enjoyed a successful 2014, member Ruby Duncan formed part of the Scotland team which qualified for the British Regional Team Finals in Exeter, and seven fellow members of the club qualified for the Scottish National Team Championships that were held in Perth.
Qualification wasn’t their only success as five of them came home with medals.
Judith McMillan, coach at RTGC, said: “Our members generally come to us as complete beginners and from there, we teach them gradually more difficult skills and routines with the emphasis on safe, progressive learning.
“Above all else, we have fun. It’s an exhilarating sport to watch as well a participate in — we know that, as both fellow coach Rhona and myself are retired competitive trampolinists ourselves.” The club is currently in a period of transition as they bid to expand wider into the community.
Following close work with the local Sports Development officer, RTGC turned to the Big Lottery Fund to help them achieve their goal of providing trampolining tuition to children in the area.
Judith explained: “We have a really great bunch of young people at the club at the moment.
“We are very excited about the future and we are working to see how we can expand the club to allow even more young children from the area to get involved.
“It’s for that reason that we turned to The Big Lottery Fund last year. We were delighted to be awarded £2,000 through its 2014 Communities Project.
“This money is being used to buy competition leotards and tracksuit kits for our members as well as put one of our volunteers through a coaching course to allow us to expand.
“We’re so grateful to the Big Lottery Fund and all those who support it by buying lottery tickets to help us.” The club hope to continue last year’s success into 2015, with the dream of more success on the mind.
Judith rounded off by saying: “We’re now back after the Christmas break, training hard for 2015 competitive season and hoping to add to our successes to date.”
