Glasgow Commonwealth Games star Derek Hawkins was the main attraction this weekend with a commendable display at the Reading Half Marathon, moving him to the top of this year’s rankings.
Hawkins finished the course in a time of 1.05.56 to overall come ninth.
Closer to home, Claire Gibson finished the Clydebank 5k as first female and 51st overall with a time of 17.05. John Gilhooly was also pounding the tarmac, winding up in 94th and coming across the line in 18.20.
There was also a number of runners out at Parkrun events across the country.
The most eye-catching display came from up and coming prospect Gavin McArdle, who completed the Pollok event in first place and earning himself a new personal best in the process.
