Back in March members took part in the Scottish Gymnastics Trampoline Assessment competition in Perth, where Rebecca Dolan, not only won her group and a gold medal in the NDP Level 3 level, but she also qualified to represent the Scottish region at the British Gymnastics Regional Team Finals in Peterborough.

The competition took place in Peterborough Arena over the last weekend in May and despite a slight hiccup on her first routine, Rebecca, who is coached by former Scottish International trampolinist Rhona Hall, managed to perform a really solid second routine to place 23rd in Britain. Rebecca followed on from teammate Ruby Duncan who represented the Scottish Region at last year’s finals in Exeter and the club was delighted to have representation at the event for a second year running.

On June 20 members traveled to Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth to take part in the last Scottish Gymnastics trampoline assessment of the season.

In the morning session, Brooke Campbell got the team off to the best start possible by winning the Club H Level competition for girls aged 11-14 and qualifying for this years Scottish National Trampoline Championships in September. A fantastic feat given it was Brooke’s first ever competition.

Carrying on from Brooke’s performance, teammate Rhianna Brittain took the silver in the NDP Level 5 section for girls aged between 13 and 14 years of age. She too qualified for this years National Championships for a second year running.

The last group in the morning section saw twin sisters, Jess and Ruby Duncan (14) taking to the trampolines. Jess and Ruby both competed brilliantly to qualify for the National Championships in the NDP Level 6 group for girls. Ruby also secured herself a silver medal by coming second, with Jess just missing out on the podium, placing fourth.

And the amazing results continued into the afternoon session.

First up was Carrie Convery, who handled her nerves really well to win the ASM G group for girls 13-14 years of age. Along with her gold medal, Carrie also gained nationals qualification.

Next was the club’s youngest competitor Annie Fitzsimmons who, despite not being fully fit, placed seventh, qualified for the Scottish Nationals and also gained the qualification score to move up to the next level next season.

The final competitor of the day was Logan McBride. Despite it being his first competition, he performed like a seasoned competitor to gain nationals qualification and a silver medal in the ASM G group for boys. Logan also gained the promotion score to move up a level.

So all in all, the day could not have gone better and the coaches were blown away at how well every single one of the members performed.

The club is constantly growing in popularity within the Renfrewshire area and further afield, with dozens of children wanting to join us each month – so much so they have had to temporarily freeze the waiting list.

Demand means are working with our local Paisley East Sports Hub to see how we can accommodate all those that want to join us.

In the meantime they are also looking for local companies and/or individuals who would be able to sponsor them to allow us to keep the club going and hopefully expand.
