CANADIAN comedian Katharine Ferns will take centre stage at Paisley Town Hall tonight for a charity fashion fundraiser.

She is hosting a ladies night to raise money for the Scottish Huntington’s Association (SHA) to help families living with the incurable degenerative neurological condition.

Fashion models will showcase clothes from local boutiques and there will also be Christmas stalls, drink and nibbles.

Gemma Powell, SHA community fundraising officer, said: “This is shaping up to be a brilliant night at a great venue and the first 80 tickets sold also get a free gift from our exhibitors, so get your tickets early.”

Katharine (pictured above) has performed her show Ferns in Stitches to packed crowds at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, Manchester Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe.

She has been a finalist at many comedy awards in Britain and Canada.

Paisley-based SHA is the only charity in the country supporting families impacted by Huntingdon’s Disease.

The condition causes three main groups of symptoms – changes to thinking processes; loss of muscle control and involuntary movements which lead to loss of speech and swallowing; and mental illness.

It is also hereditary, with each child of those diagnosed at 50 per cent risk of developing HD.

Tickets for tonight’s event cost £10. To book, send an email to fundraising@hdscotland.org or call 0141 848 0308.
