SOME of the nation’s most talented musicians will take centre stage at a glittering awards ceremony in Paisley this weekend.

The Lagoon Leisure Centre plays host to the 2017 Scots Trad Music Awards on Saturday.

An all-star line-up will see acts such as Siobhan Miller (pictured above), Elephant Sessions, Tide Lines and The Shee playing live.

Following weeks of anticipation and a public vote, the evening will celebrate those who have influenced the traditional music scene over the past year.

Heralded as the most prestigious award ceremony in the traditional music calendar, the event will be hosted by Mary Ann Kennedy and Tony Kearney.

Organising body Hands Up for Trad will hand out a total of 16 awards.

Event founder and promoter Simon Thoumire said: “We want to say a huge thanks to everyone who has voted – with such a wealth of amazing Trad talent in Scotland, we’re sure it wasn’t an easy task.

“Hands Up for Trad are dedicated to showcasing the level of talent in this country – and the awards are a real highlight in the calendar each year.

“We can’t wait for an unmissable night of live music on Saturday.”

Among the prizes to be handed out is Album of the Year, with 10 nominees battling for the crown.
