ONE of the best-known celebrations in Renfrewshire will be kicking off in Kilbarchan on Saturday as Lilias Day gets under way.
Beth Caldow (above) will be taking centre stage as Miss Lilias on the 50th year since the event began to be celebrated annually.
Alongside 16-year-old Beth, Fiona Jackson (right), who was Miss Lilias back in 1968, will also be making a return, while 11-year-old Ellie McGriesh will be the school queen.
Archie Sandground, 15, will make his first appearance as Kilbarchan’s historic 15th century piper Habbie Simpson.
The celebrations include one of the biggest parades in Scotland, in honour of Habbie.
The parade culminates in Kilbarchan Park, where thousands of people can enjoy entertainment, charity stalls and activities for all the family.
The park will be opening at noon and the parade will begin at 1pm. The event will finish at 4.30pm.
