Thomas Ewing was caught with eight bags of the class B drug at his home in Paisley’s Ferguslie Park area last year. The town’s sheriff court heard this week that the 34-year-old was arrested and charged after officers found seven one ounce deals and a bag with half an ounce of the drug on April 12, 2013.
The drugs were discovered in Ewing’s home in Ferguslie Park Avenue and he went on trial over the drug haul this week. During his trial the court was told that each of the seven one ounce deal bags – which weigh approximately 28g each – were worth £200.
The half-ounce bag was valued by a police drugs expert as being worth £110, bringing the total value of Ewing’s haul to £1,510. The jury took just under 45 minutes to find Ewing guilty of being concerned in the supply of cannabis from his home on the day in question.
The court heard that £1,400 in cash was found in the property when police raided it but the Crown did not try to have the money seized.
Sheriff David Pender locked Ewing up for two years on Thursday, October 23.
