Renfrewshire councillor Eileen McCartin is to become the next president of the Scottish Liberal Democrats.
She was elected to the prestigious position for the next two years, and will take up her period of office in the new year.
Eileen, ward representative for Paisley South West, said: "It's a great honour to become party President.
"I was surprised when I was approached to put my name forward, but I will do my very best in this role.
"My main task is to represent the party members, ensure that they are heard and acknowledged within the party and that their interests are protected.
"I an very happy to join the team of new party office bearers where the majority of members are female, including the party's Convenor Sheila Thompson.
"Much more remains to be done to ensure the party is representative of society.
"Working with our Federal President, Sal Brinton, this will be high on our agenda during my term in office."
The local party will also be represented over the next two years, in the party's Executive, by local party convenor Allan Heron who was re-elected for a further two year term.
