Two men are facing trial accused of abducting a man and torturing him in an abandoned mansion over an unpaid debt.
Brian Smart, 60, and Allan Barbour, 25, are said to have bundled Paul Markie into a transit van and driven him to the derelict building to assault him.
Smart, and Barbour, who are both from Johnstone, are alleged to have committed the offence in the town on November 19, 2015.
Prosecutors claim they abducted Markie in the town's Birch Crescent, pulled him into a transit van, and drove him to Caldwell House, which lies between the villages of Uplawmoor, in East Renfrewshire, and Lugton, East Ayrshire.
The indictment against them states that they "did force him to walk into" the derelict building, threatened him with a claw hammer, and demand he pay money he owed.
Court papers state they forced him to sit against a wall, detained him against his will, assaulted him, tied rope and tape around his wrists and ankles, placed tape across his mouth and rained punches on his head, leaving him injured.
Barbour also denies a second charge of being involved in cocaine dealing.
The pair maintained their innocence when they appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court this week and the case was adjourned for trial, which is due to take place later this month.
