A deaf Johnstone man lost the plot after offering to help his ex move to a new house - after she and 10 other helpers descended on his home and took everything but his kitchen sink.

Ross Dominick lashed out when his ex, Tracey Young, was trying to move from Renfrewshire to Port Glasgow with their son in July last year.

Young and some friends went to the home of 28-year-old Dominick in Johnstone's Tower Road to pick up some things ahead of the move.

But an argument broke out and ended with Dominick assaulting one of Young's friends, getting arrested and facing trial over the incident at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Dominick was due to go on trial this week charged with threatening behaviour, assaulting Tracey's sister, Kirsty, Kirsty's boyfriend, Gary Forbes, and Tracey's friend Donna Quinn.

But prosecutors dropped two assault charges before Dominick pleaded guilty to assaulting Forbes and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Solicitor Nadine Dormer said her client had acted in the way he had on the day in question because he was stressed out by what was happening.

Speaking of the events of July 8, 2015, she explained: "Tracey Young arrives at his house with eight others.

"Mr Dominick had offered to give her his cooker, washing machine, television and crockery.

"She was returning to Port Glasgow and he had offered them so the property where his son was living would be properly furnished.

"There were 11 of them in his property.

"He didn't know who some of these people were and asked them to leave.

"He failed to do so and became so anxious he began shouting."

She said Dominick was incensed that he could not get everyone out of his flat so left to go to his car.

But once at his vehicle he realised he didn't have his keys and went back inside, assaulting Gary Forbes on his way.

Dormer explained: "He received a punch in the face from Nicola Young, the girlfriend of Gary Forbes.

"He falls back and his hearing aids fall out, both of them.

"He explains that this caused a lack of balance and dizzyness.

"He fully accepts he was shouting and bawling at this stage.

"Gary Forbes then appears with a bike belonging to Mr Dominick's son.

"They begin grappling over the bike and Mr Dominick accepts at that point he headbutts Gary Young."

She said Dominick had not seen his five-year-old son since the incident and had been off from his work as a plant operator recently with stress as his boss "doesn't want him driving £100,000 of machinery when he doesn't seem fit to do so.

As he fined Dominick £250 over the incident, Sheriff James Spy said: "I don't know why 11 people had to turn up to assist Tracey Young flit."

Dominick, who was supported in court by a woman who is believed to be his fiancee, was then allowed to leave the court as a free man after agreeing to pay the fine at a rate of £10-a-fortnight.
