A MAN has been arrested after a video emerged of school pupils engaged in an altercation in a Paisley street.

The clip, filmed on a mobile phone, shows teenagers who are thought to be from Paisley Grammar involved in a disturbance with two men wearing tracksuits.

The video was filmed in close proximity to the school, shared on social media and has already been viewed almost 90,000 times.

At one point an adult wearing a suit appears on screen and shows him attempting to intervene.

It is not known whether the peacemaker is a teacher at the Glasgow Road school.

As the video comes to an end the suited man can be seen ushering the two men involved in the incident away from the scene on Crossflat Crescent close to its junction with Clarence Street.

Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in relation to the incident.

A police spokeswoman said: "Around 12.40pm on Wednesday, March 30, police were called to a report of a disturbance outside a school in Paisley.

"Officers attended and a 37-year-old man was arrested and detained in connection with an alleged breach of the peace."

The man is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court in due course.
