WORK on the re-roofing of two Renfrewshire primary schools is expected to commence in May.
Lochwinnoch Primary and Inchinnan Primary have both been identified as requiring remedial roofing works due to the majority of their roof coverings being beyond their useful economic life.
Renfrewshire Council’s Procurement Sub Committee will be asked to authorise the contract for the work at a meeting today.
The contracts, worth more than £300,000 each, are expected to be awarded to Keepmoat Regeneration Limited.
Councillor Derek Bibby, who represents Johnstone North, Kilbarchan and Lochwinnoch, said: “I am pleased that this necessary work to re-roof the school is now imminent as the awarding of the contract will allow the work to commerce.
“It has been a priority of the Labour administration to invest in our schools and to undertake work to make continuous improvements.
“I am also aware that the state of the roof at the school has been a concern shared by the parent council and I am grateful for their support and perseverance in resolving the issue.”
