BRIDGE of Weir and Linwood residents are being warned to be alert following attempted house break-ins.
Between Monday, May 2, and Thursday, May 12, a house in the village's Watt Road was targeted by an intruder.
There was an unsuccessful attempt to force open a window using a tool or similar object.
The resident noticed marks on the window and reported this to police.
Another incident took place at Kintyre Avenue in Linwood between Monday, May 9, and Thursday, May 12.
An attempt was made to force open a garden shed.
The thief failed to gain access and the victim contacted the police to report the damage.
Inspector Stevie Espie said: "It seems like there is a person or group of people in the area involved in house break-ins.
"Even though these were unsuccessful break ins the owners were right to tell us so we know how many homes have been targeted.
"We are still carrying out local enquiries and anyone with any information should contact police on 101."
