PUPILS from Kirklandneuk Primary School learned about the best ways to look after their money in special lessons last week.

The whole school was involved and each class was given a pack with money themed activities to try.

The purpose of annual event, entitled 'Money Week', is to raise awareness of the benefits of saving and budgeting.

Younger children were able to learn about money through a class shop while the older children learned about mobile phone packages, interest, loans and mortgages.

David Ralston, who is chair of the school's parent council and works for Royal Bank of Scotland, visited the school and provided a financial talk to each of the classes with different stories suited to their age.

The younger children were told a story about a young boy who wants to save up for a crocodile but ends up spending all his money of sweets.

Angela Sloan, deputy head teacher at Kirklandneuk Primary School, said: "They really loved it and found the talks very interesting.

"They asked lots of questions."
