TRIBUTES have been paid to a “bright and friendly” schoolboy who died suddenly after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Thirteen-year-old Ahmar Javed, from Elderslie, passed away just before he was to receive a string of awards for his academic achievements.

His death has left classmates at Castlehead High School, in Paisley, devastated.

A memorial book has been opened at the school and a service is set to take place, where a tree will be planted in his honour.

Headteacher Martin Macdonald said: “Ahmar was a bright, friendly, polite, humble and hard-working pupil who will be greatly missed by everyone at Castlehead High.

“A memorial book has been created to give pupils the chance to share their memories of Ahmar and, from the messages written, it is clear just how highly respected he was.

“Ahmar was very talented and was particularly passionate about science.

“We are about to hold our school awards evening and Ahmar would have received awards for English, German, humanities, music, home economics and a club award for badminton. We will present these awards, along with his recent art project work, to Ahmar’s family.”

Ahmar lived in Elderslie with his parents Akram and Sameena and younger sister Mariya, who is a pupil at Wallace Primary.

The funeral for Ahmar took place last week.
