FAMILIES in Johnstone embraced the festive spirit as a host of Christmas activities took place at a church outreach club.

The Sunshine Club, held every month at St Paul’s Church, had dozens of visitors on Saturday, enjoying crafts and party games to welcome in the festive season.

And no-one went hungry, as they were able to tuck into Christmas dinner, including turkey and all the trimmings, followed by chocolate cake.

Christine McCormack, one of the club committee members, said: “It was an amazing turnout, it’s the most people we’ve ever had at the club.

“There must have been about 35 people there, a mix of youngsters and adults.

“The little ones enjoyed all the classic party games like musical bumps and statues, as well as plenty of craft activities.

“The turkey dinner seemed to go down well too, with everyone asking for more.

“A great time was had by all.”

It was one of many themed days the club has organised, following on from last month’s celebration to mark St Andrew’s Day.

Members of the club usually meet at the Quarrelton Road church from 4pm to 6pm on the third Saturday of each month – and anyone who is interested in attending will be made welcome.

Children of school age do not need to be accompanied by an adult after registration has taken place and a meal is always served.

The website also includes plenty of information about the church itself, including events, activities and details about organisations which use the building.
