THE glitz and glamour of Hollywood was rumoured to be heading to a Renfrewshire town back in 2004.
It was revealed that a film company was interested in building a studio near to Erskine Bridge.
The town was in line to be used as a backdrop for the a big screen car chase or shootout, if ambitious plans got the go ahead.
The company assumed to be behind the venture, Glasgow-based MPP, remained tight-lipped at the time — but Renfrewshire Council admitted talks were already under way.
A spokeswoman said at the time: “We can confirm a company is in negotiations with Scottish Enterprise in terms of securing funding for this project and we have been having discussions with them about possible sites.”
Sam Coulter, chairman of Erskine Community Council, added: “It might make the village a bit more glamorous, which would be a good thing. It will certainly be good for jobs.”
And 20-year-old Erskine resident Katie Black said: “I think a film studio is a great idea. It will bring jobs to the town.”
