A BUDGET airline is launching two new routes from Glasgow Airport as part of its summer 2019 schedule.

Bosses at Jet2.com are introducing two weekly services to the Greek island of Kos and the Italian city of Naples, taking the airline's total number of sun and city destinations from the Paisley-based terminal to 33.

The company will also introduce an additional 90,000 seats across its Glasgow Airport-based destination network.

Steve Heapy, chief executive officer of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: "We are putting our biggest ever summer programme on sale from Glasgow Airport, with two brand new destinations and 950,000 seats going on sale for summer 19.

"The addition of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft represents another huge investment in our base here and gives local holidaymakers even more choice and flexibility with our award-winning airline and tour operator.

"Yet another summer of growth here at Glasgow Airport is only possible thanks to our loyal customers and it shows that our hard work in offering them great value package holidays and family-friendly flights is working."

Francois Bourienne, Glasgow Airport's commercial director, added: "Jet2.com's decision to create jobs through the basing of an additional aircraft at Glasgow Airport is welcome news.

"The move not only strengthens our position as Jet2.com's largest Scottish base with seven aircraft but, with a total of 33 destinations to choose from next summer, the airline will serve more routes than any other individual carrier from Glasgow Airport."
