A MAN accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a pub is due to go on trial over the claims.

Martin Burke, 54, is said to have interfered with the woman at the Abbey Inn, in Barrhead Road, Paisley.

Prosecutors claim he sexually assaulted the woman, who can’t be named for legal reasons, on July 16 last year.

Burke faces a single charge under Section 3 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act and appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court for a pre-trial hearing.

He denies assaulting the woman by placing his hands under her clothing, touching her breasts and pressing and rubbing his hand on top of her trousers.

Defence solicitor Jonathan Manson said his client maintains his plea of not guilty.

Sheriff James Spy adjourned the case and continued bail.

Burke, of Kirkintilloch, is set to go on trial later this month.
