THERE was fun for all ages at the annual Bridge of Weir Gala Day.

People from the village were out in force, and were joined by visitors from far and wide, as they were treated to a wide variety of stalls, activities and the day’s centrepiece – the eagerly-anticipated

Gala parade.

The event, blessed by glorious summer sunshine, was opened by this year’s Gala Queen, Eva Miller, 10, and her attendants, and visitors were encouraged to dress up as their favourite animals as part of the Rumble In The Jungle theme of the event.

The Gala Queen also drew the lucky prize draw, with the holder of the winning ticket, 611, still to claim their £100 of vouchers for Gibb Stuart Ironmongers.

For those looking for a bite to eat while browsing the gala day’s attractions and taking part in the day’s activities, the local Scout and Guide groups had it covered as they served up some delicious treats.

Brenda Lethorn, treasurer of the organising committee, said: “The Gala Day was a wonderful success, with the parade the highlight of the day.

“The weather was tremendous and everyone who turned out had a really great day.

“While the turnout could have been a bit better, we were really thankful for the great support from people who were there on the day.

“Special thanks has to go to the committee.”
