Gary ‘Razor’ Rae looked impressive as he cruised past Johnson Tellez of Nicaragua on Saturday, winning every round of their six round contest at the SSE Hydro.

The super-bantamweight from Barrhead, who was in action on the undercard of the Josh Taylor versus Viktor Postol fight, now has eight wins from eight professional bouts as he continues to build on his successful amateur career.

The 29-year-old put in a measured performance, controlling every round behind his textbook jab. Tellez, a journeyman with 52 fights in an eight year career, was a durable opponent but Rae started well and didn’t let up. Rae’s offence proved to be too much from the second round on as he found his range with some nice body shots getting through Tellez’s tricky defence.

Tellez was swinging wildly in the third but Rae was comfortable with his superior movement and reach keeping him out of trouble.

Rae had his support off their seats late in round four when he shook the Nicaraguan and his excellent timing allowed him to land at will in the final two rounds as he eased to an impressive, if slightly comfortable, win in front of a busy Hydro crowd who sang his name throughout.
