MEMBERS of Barrhead Rotary Club welcomed the organisation’s district governor to their latest meeting.

Jim Kerr, head of the West of Scotland district of Rotary International, delivered his vision of getting more young people involved in the work carried out by the Rotary movement.

At the meeting, which took place at the Dalmeny Park Hotel, he spoke passionately about Rotary International president Barry Rassin’s theme for 2018/19 – Be the Inspiration – and invited Rotarians to inspire change in the world.

In particular, Mr Kerr fostered the idea of younger people joining Rotary, especially those in the 18-30 age group, to boost the organisation’s youth wing.

He added that he is keen to see local membership of Rotary increase to enable even more charitable work to be embarked on at home and abroad.

Mr Kerr concluded his visit by handing over a pennant showing the current theme and logo as a gift to previous district governor Drew Hughes.
