A LOCHWINNOCH amputee has told how she was left in shock as a Hollywood superstar delivered a personal message to her charity on the silver screen.

A special screening of Dwayne Johnson’s new film Skyscraper had been arranged for the team at Finding Your Feet, which was founded by Corinne Hutton in 2013 to support amputees after she lost her hands and feet to sepsis.

However, the mum-of-one had no idea the former wrestler, also known as The Rock, was going to give the charity a personal message of thanks.

In the new film, Johnson plays amputee and former FBI hostage rescue team leader Will Sawyer, who has to infiltrate a burning skyscraper after his family is trapped inside by criminals.

After playing a character who had lost limbs, he branded Finding Your Feet as an “inspiration.”

In the message, Johnson said: “Hey guys, surprise! I’m very happy to introduce our film Skyscraper.

“Thank you to Finding Your Feet organisation for hosting tonight. You guys are doing great work supporting amputees and their families and we appreciate all that you do.

“Thank you for being an inspiration.”

Corinne admits she was left stunned by the celebrity endorsement from the WWE star during the screening, which took place at the Glasgow Film Theatre, she said it took a good while for it all to sink in.

The Gazette:

Corinne Hutton couldn't hide her shock

She told The Gazette: “I just thought he was doing a general message when he came up.

“When he actually put out the Finding Your Feet name, it was incredible and so kind of him.

“We’ve tried to get in touch with stars before but never got anywhere, so we didn’t think we had a chance, but he clearly did his homework on us.”

Corinne added: “I could never have imagined this happening at the start when I set the charity up.

“I did it for peer support really when life was looking bleak for me but it’s gone from strength to strength.

“He has shown in the film that amputees can be anything they want. For a movie star to get behind us is absolutely massive.”
