TWO thugs are being hunted by police after robbing a man and a teenage girl.

The pair targeted a 55-year-old man in Church Street, Johnstone, pulling a chain from his neck, before boarding a McGill’s bus.

They then robbed a 19-year-old passenger of her handbag before getting off the bus in Ferguslie Main Road, Paisley, near to the Millarston Dairy.

Neither victim was injured but both were left badly shaken.

Descriptions have been released of the callous duo and police are keen to hear from witnesses.

The first thug is white and was wearing a long grey cardigan, black leggings, a white top, white bobbly hat and had a walking stick.

Her accomplice is also white, with black hair, and was wearing jeans, a blue cap and brown jacket.

Detective Inspector David Wagstaff said: “We are investigating two robberies which we believe to be linked.

“Two women approached a 55-year-old man in Church Street, Johnstone, at around 8.45pm on Sunday and stole a chain from him before heading off towards High Street.

“We believe they boarded a McGill’s bus in Houstoun Square and, in the course of the journey to Paisley, stole a handbag from a 19-year-old woman.

“They got off the bus and were last seen heading towards Millarston Dairy in Ferguslie.”
