BAFFLED homeowners discovered a gnome thief had raided their garden - and then sent them a BOGUS police letter in 2004.
The Renfrew couple couldn’t believe their eyes when they noticed the little policeman figure had been taken from the front of their house.
Then, days later, they were sent a letter from an Inspector DI Clare inviting them to the local police station for an identity parade.

The bemused householder from Lang Avenue, who asked not to be named, told the Gazette then: “My husband noticed last Thursday evening the gnome was gone.
“I only paid a few pounds for it from Woolworths so goodness knows why anyone would want to steal him.”
