A BISHOPTON motorist is facing trial for allegedly mowing down a pensioner and then leaving the scene.
Donald McMillan, 57, is said to have struck 77-year-old John Dunn in Wraisland Crescent, Bishopton.
Prosecutors claim McMillan hit Mr Dunn by driving dangerously, leaving the pensioner injured.
He also faces charges of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident to police within 24 hours.
McMillan was not present when the case against him called for the first time at Paisley Sheriff Court last week but not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf during the hearing.
Sheriff Moira MacKenzie adjourned the case until November for a pre-trial hearing to take place.
A trial date has been set for December.
