A ROCK band will be playing live in Paisley as part of an open day at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).

The campus will be holding a exciting event with a festival flavour on Saturday complete with a live set from Kilmarnock rockers Fatherson.

The university is encouraging potential students and interested members of the community to come along and immerse themselves in university life while discovering all the amazing opportunities at UWS.

The open day will include a programme of engaging talks, presentations and live demos by inspiring academics.

There will also be action-packed subject immersion zones and a student life zone with academics and current students on-hand to provide information and answer questions.

There’s even a special parents’ zone where parents, guardians and carers can find out about the important information that matters to them.

On the day, guests can also learn about the full range of fantastic practical placement and study abroad opportunities, as well as the various funding options and student support available.

Dedicated social media stations will also be in place to give guests the chance to capture and share their UWS open day experience with fun photo opportunities.

Marcus Ross, UWS executive director, said: “We’re thoroughly looking forward to our Paisley campus’ festival-themed open day and encourage as many people as possible to come along.

"We want to give prospective students a unique open day experience, and allow the University’s various schools to display their amazing work in an engaging way.

“We hope the open day festival will give guests an exciting glimpse into life as a UWS student, and with demonstrations, tours, the chance to meet students and staff, and of course, live music, it’s an event not to be missed."
