A PAISLEY couple who were attacked by masked thugs in front of young kids have been named.

The trio of attackers, wearing white forensic suits, attacked Donna Galloway, 33, and Christopher Mellon, 26, in the blade horror.

Police have launched an investigation into the murder bid inside a house in Ferguslie Park, Paisley, yesterday evening, which left the two youngsters 'distraught'.

The three yobs then left the house and are believed to have escaped in a small white car.

Cops have now confirmed they believe the three men were seen at around 7.30pm in Dalskeith Avenue in a white coloured Volkswagen Golf.

It appears they stopped to ask a man for directions to the family home just minutes before the vicious attack.

The injured couple managed to contact emergency services and were taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Ms Galloway was treated for her injuries before being released, while the man is still being treated for his head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

Detective Inspector Ross MacDonald at Paisley CID said yesterday: “Although we have yet to establish a motive for this violent attack, we believe the injured man and woman were specifically targeted.

“This despicable act of violence was carried out in front of two very young children who were within the house and has left them in a very distraught state.

"The injuries that the man sustained were so serious that the incident is being treated as attempted murder.

“A team of officers are carrying out door to door enquiries in an attempt to gain further information but at this time we believe that the three masked men may have made off in a small white car that was seen in the area.”

Anyone who has any information or who has seen the three men hanging around the area either before or after the attack took place is asked to contact police at Paisley immediately via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3605 of September 24.
