RENFREWSHIRE could be set to benefit from up to 120 news jobs as the countdown begins to the launch of a new Paisley retail park.

Plans for the opening of a £10m Wallneuk Retail Park in three months time are on course and property developer London and Scottish Investments (L&SI) has announced details of the site.

The development will see Lidl opening a flagship store on the site, its first in Paisley, with The Range, one of the UK’s fastest growing companies, opening its first local store, and Tim Hortons operating a drive-thru coffee shop.

The retail park is on the site of a former bowling alley, which L&SI bought from Tesco.

Thirty further jobs will be supported by contractors Muir Construction during the building phase, taking the total to 150 roles.

Derek Mackay, Renfrewshire North and West MSP and Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Constitution, said: “I am pleased to welcome the new jobs.”

The Range, which sells more than 65,000 products including DIY, homeware, furniture, lighting, arts and crafts, and soft furnishing, is taking a total of 63,000 sq ft including a mezzanine and garden centre, while Lidl’s supermarket will extend to 26,000 sq ft and Tim Hortons, Canada’s largest coffee chain, will take 2,600 sq ft.
