A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with importing drugs through Glasgow Airport on Hogmanay.

Zixian Long is said to have been “knowingly concerned in the fraudulent evasion of the prohibition on the importation of controlled drugs” by importing herbal cannabis through the airport on December 31 last year.

She denies breaching the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979.

Long, 21, also faces a drug dealing charge, with prosecutors alleging she was concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, in breach of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, on the same date.

The case against Long, of Duke Street, Glasgow, called at Paisley Sheriff Court for its first public hearing.

After hearing Long, who was aided in court by a Mandarin interpreter, maintained her innocence, Sheriff Seith Ireland continued matters until later this month.
