barrhead author Christopher Brookmyre will return to his roots as part of an arts programme that celebrates the spookiest month of the year.

The talented novelist is to headline Dead Good October, which is being organised by East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure.

Christopher will host a discussion on his new novel – The Way of All Flesh – at the Barrhead Foundry at 7pm on Thursday, October 18.

The historical crime book was co-written by his wife Dr Marisa Haetzman, who works as a consultant anaesthetist, under the pseudonym of Ambrose Parry.

Meanwhile, amateur detectives are invited to solve murder mysteries in Carry on Sleuthing, which takes place at Giffnock Library on Friday, October 12, and The Lost Soul of the Lingering Laird, which will be hosted at Eastwood House on Saturday, October 27.

Jude Smith, of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: “We’re counting down to the spookiest day of the year with our Dead Good October season and we have a whole host of Hallowe’en events.

“We’re delighted to welcome Christopher Brookmyre and Dr Marisa Haetzman to speak about their new collaboration.”

Eastwood Park is also hosting a trio of ‘spook-tacular’ baby discos on the Hallowe’en weekend, with parents invited to bring their little pumpkins, fairies and ghouls along to play party games, boogie to the beats and do the monster mash.

A relaxed screening of Monsters Inc comes to the big screen at Eastwood Park Theatre on Sunday, October 14, and is suitable for children with additional support needs.

The same venue will screen Hallowe’en favourite Hocus Pocus on Wednesday, October 31.
