The progress of a campaign to fight homophobia in schools will be discussed at December’s meeting of Renfrewshire Council.
Councillor Andy Doig has asked for evidence that proves the Time for Inclusive Education (TIE) initiative, which aims to change attitudes towards the LGBT community in schools, is working.
The SNP-led administration agreed to bring a report to the next meeting of full council, analysing the impact it is having on promoting inclusive education.
Councillor Doig, who represents Johnstone North, Kilbarchan, Howwood and Lochwinnoch as an Independent, also welcomed plans to fly a rainbow flag at Renfrewshire Council’s headquarters each year from 2019.
He said: “Equally important will be analysing the progress of the TIE campaign in Renfrewshire’s schools to see if we are definitely changing attitudes.”
