STAFF at a convenience store have been left shaken following a robbery bid.

Police are investigating the incident, which took place at the Co-op store in Neilston Road, Paisley, just after 8.30pm on Monday.

The culprit demanded money from a member of staff behind the counter while waving a weapon.

He then attempted to take the till but eventually walked away empty-handed.

Officers have described the suspect as white, aged 35 to 40 and around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 9ins tall. He spoke with a local accent.

Police also said he was wearing a black hooded jumper and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Inspector Ross McDonald, at Paisley CID, said: “Staff have been left quite shaken by this incident and it is the second time the shop has been targeted this year.

“If anyone has any information, I would urge them to get in touch with us.”
