POLICE investigating a serious assault at a Renfrewshire pub have released images of a man they want to trace.

It is hoped the man will be able to help detectives probing the attack at O’Connors bar, in St James Street, Paisley, on Tuesday, August 14.

At around 10.40pm that night, a 27-year-old man was assaulted inside the pub, leaving him with serious injuries that required hospital treatment.

The man in the CCTV images released by police is described as white, aged between 35 and 40, of heavy build and bald.

At the time, he was wearing a green top and blue jeans.

A spokesperson for Paisley CID said: “The pub will have been busy with people watching the Champions League qualifier between AEK Athens and Celtic at the time of the incident and I am appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“If you recognise the man in the images or if you are the man in the images, please get in touch as it is essential that we speak to him as part of our enquiries."
