BRUNCH was on the menu in Renfrew at the weekend as the Boys’ Brigade took part in a nationwide fundraising event.

Two good causes cashed in on the efforts of the 1st/3rd Renfrew boys as they took part in the Big BB Brunch alongside more than 100 other Companies.

Coinciding with the Year of Young People, the event on Saturday encouraged BB groups across the country to take part in a giant combined breakfast, with a focus on young people taking the lead.

The brunch saw crowds flock to Renfrew North Parish Church to enjoy the company of others from the community, as well as tucking into some tasty treats.

Teaming up with the Church Guild, the boys served the host of hungry guests with soup, sandwiches and home-baking.

A bottle stall and table games also proved popular with those who headed along to the Renfield Street church.

And the hard work of the Renfrew youngsters raised £600, which will be split between two charities.

Christian charity Tearfund and the World Mission’s StARS project, which aims to build a playground at the St Andrews Refugee Services school in Egypt, will each receive £300.

Andrew Scott, Company Captain, said he is proud of all the boys who took part in the event.

He added: “It was great to see the boys being supported by the church and the community.”
