A RENFREW shop has come up with a sweet way to bring children closer to Santa this Christmas.

Boys and girls who have been good all year can send letters to Father Christmas via a postbox at the Sprinkles ice-cream shop in Renfrew – and will receive a personalised response from the jolly man in the red suit.

The ‘Write to Santa’ project is being made possible with the help of Royal Mail.

And bosses at Sprinkles, in Inchinnan Road, have been delighted with the response so far.

Shop owner Christine Boluk told The Gazette: “It’s something exciting for the children to do.

“Instead of going to a normal postbox, they get to send their letters through an actual ‘Santa box.’

“A lot of parents when they come in point at our CCTV and tell their children ‘That’s Santa’s cameras, be careful.’

“It’s been fun.”

It is free to send a Christmas letter to Santa via the special Sprinkles postbox, although these do need a stamp, as they cannot reach Reindeerland without one.

Letters should be addressed to Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ.

They must be handed in before Thursday, December 6, to give Santa enough time to send a reply before Christmas arrives.
